Community
organisations are increasingly being recognised as an important
resource by government, politicians, and other decision makers.
Community
groups are run by people who care. People who have recognised a need
and are prepared to do something about it. The voluntary sector
often shows entrepreneurial activity and persuasive skills; the
opportunity to do more is there.
Neil
Jackson is an experienced community development worker, trainer, and
consultant. Having worked for both local and national charities he
is able to provide a wide range of services to voluntary and
community organisations. In addition he has wide experience in
business and the public sector and can bring this perspective to
inform and educate community organisations.
Why
practical consultancy?
Consultancy
is about helping. It can be an advantage to let someone from outside
look at your organisation, sometimes you are just too close to it. I
like to look at processes and people so that we can find areas of
improvement. Change is achieved by engaging people, and showing that
change is achievable. Therefore it has to be practical and
understandable, not technical and frightening.
Training
I provide training on a wide range of subjects. My aim is to help
organisations get better. I can provide training courses that are
designed for specific organisational needs.
Publicity and design
As an experienced journalist I understand how to produce eye
catching copy that attracts news editors. If you have a campaign I
can help you plan how to get maximum publicity for your cause. I can
advise you on how to write a press release, design your corporate
identity and promotional materials. I have also produced directories
of services for several local charities.
